Joan A. Otieno, Advocate.
Joan is one of the firm’s Senior Associates.
She graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2011 with a Bachelor of Laws degree after which she briefly interned with the Institute for Law and Environmental Governance (ILEG).
She then enrolled with the Kenya School of Law from 2012 to 2013 for her Advocates Training Program. During her studies, she simultaneously worked with Enonda Makoloo, Makori & Company Advocates where she also undertook her pupilage.
She holds experience in civil criminal and commercial litigation and has extensively undertaken matters in Courts and other judicial tribunals including the Court martial and the cooperatives tribunal.
She has special interest in public interest environmental litigation, governance, constitutional law, gender rights and law reform.
Joan is a member of the Kenyan Chapter of the Federation of Kenya Women Lawyers (FIDA), the Law Society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society.
Outside practice, Joan is an ardent table tennis player and engages in youth mentorship programs.
