Emily Maiyamei Muyaa, Advocate.

emily muyaaEmily is a consultant on international tax law and tax administration and consultants for the firm’s local, regional and international clients in tax law.

She graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws Degree in December 2006 and thereafter proceeding to the Kenya School of Law for her Post Graduate Degree in Law graduating in December 2007.

She undertook her pupilage with Messrs. Muthoga Gaturu & Company Advocates and was admitted to the Roll of Advocates on 16th July 2009.

In pursuit of this interest, Emily proceeded to the International Tax Centre - Leiden University, in the Netherlands wherefrom she obtained a Master’s Degree in Advanced Studies in International Tax Law (LL.M.) She also holds an advance Diploma in Accounting and Business from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and is currently pursuing a BSc. in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brooks University.

After admission, Emily took up a Graduate Trainee course with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and worked as a Revenue Officer with the KRA’s Transfer Pricing Unit of the Large Tax Payers Office between 2010 and 2012. She developed deep interest in tax law and tax administration whilst working the KRA.

Emily is currently a Research Associate with the International Bureau for Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) and has practiced as a freelance tax researcher in New York in the United States between November 2013 and September 2014.
